Join us this SATURDAY, March 9, 2024, at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Central King Building, Agile Strategy Lab (L-70), 100 Summit Street, Newark, New Jersey, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM!
"We cannot ignore the disparities highlighted in the recent study," remarked John E. Harmon, Sr., IOM, emphasizing the urgency of our event. "The Study, as expected, revealed that African American businesses received little of the $18.5 billion the Murphy administration spent on contracts for construction, professional services, and goods and services from 2015 to 2020. While expecting the worst, little did we know that the Study would document African Americans received less than one (1) percent of the $18.5 billion dollars the State awarded to contractors. African American businesses received a pittance despite the fact that we represent 14 percent of the population and over 10 percent of the businesses in New Jersey willing and able to contract with the State."
Excited to host Denise Anderson, Ph.D., MPH, Founder & CEO of Denise Anderson & Associates, alongside an esteemed panel featuring Moderator John E. Harmon, Sr., IOM, Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter, Ryan P. Haygood, Esq from NJ Institute for Social Justice, Marjorie Perry from MZM Construction, and Carlos Medina, CEO Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
